A new ScotRef Would be too devisive

Many are worried, they dont want another Referendum on the future of Scotland because it would be too divisive.

And yes, the first one was, in its way

It split our country almost in half, a slight majority wanting to remain part of the UK
And of course any vote is going to cause people to pick sides

But that is not what caused the divisions in our country

It wasnt just having to pick a side it was the policies of fear in the lead up

We all heard the 'Too Poor, Too Small, Too Stupid' We saw the manipulated figures telling us how we were a drain on the UK, how we cost more and bring in less than England (note these figures are estimates, noone knows)

We were promised how important we were and how we would get the moon on a stick if only we voted to remain

and sadly we did

And nothing was done to heal the divide that had been created, our moon on a stick instantly became English Votes for English laws - where Scottish MP's have to leave the room while the English talk about their matters.
People are told to 'get over it' and 'its over, you lost'

SNP MP's are only ever shown on TV being questioned about independence, never about any policies, never about any alternatives, never about their record leading our country, never about the differences they have positively made to Scotland

Scotland is told it is more poor as oil prices drop - and strangly tax to oil companies is dropped to the Scottish GDP numbers get worse and worse, big companies get richer and richer and no new jobs are created

Brexit told us England is so strong it can go it alone and can send back all these forigners. Racism increased.
It is telling that England has racist nicknames for the other members of the UK - Jock, Paddy, Taffy. Yet we dont have one for the English. Counter to what people are made to feel, independence is not about hating the English or getting the English out - its about the establishment, not the people

That is not how you heal divides. that is not how to heal the UK into a unified nation

So it is not surprising that supporters didnt just 'get over it' Why the SNP continued to grow and grow, why ScotRef is being talked about just a few short years later

If things had been different in the first indyref I know we would have had work to do, I knew it was not going to be a case of telling the people on the other side to 'just get over it'
More we would have had to ask 'Let us show you we can do it'  We would have had to heal Scotland

The Scotref is not devisive - the divide was never healed from the last vote
